Hwy 99 Culvert Repair
Location of Project: Hwy 99 British Columbia
Timeline: March 2015 to end of April, 2015
A permanent solution was needed to repair and replace 40 metres of CSP culvert under one of the busiest Highways in British Columbia. This culvert is situated on a water course that is critical to the drainage of the low level Fraser River delta and City of Richmond and required extensive dewatering management. MRC Total Build was called in to work with the owner’s design team to ensure a solution was executed correctly with minimal disruption to the highway’s traveling public. MRC Total Build delivered a solution by removing the temporary 2m CSP and replacing it with 20 metres of 4metre diameter multi-plate culvert and then reinforcing the 20 meters of deteriorated multi-plate with steel and high strength Shot-Crete. While the project presented some challenges, all of them were overcome by the MRC Total Build crew successfully and on budget.
